Lanzarote is one of the most popular of the Canary Islands; lying to the north of the island of Fuerteventura and close to the coast of Africa, thanks to the location it enjoys a fantastic climate all year round. Other popular excursions on Lanzarote include the fascinating lava caves at Cuerva de los Verdes and Los Jameos del Agua, Guatiza with its cactus garden, the northern fishing villages of Orzola and Arrieta, and charming whitewashed inland villages like Yaiza and Tias with their typical Canarian bars and restaurants. There are many walking and hiking trails on the island and public transport is very good. Many holidaymakers like to hire a car in order to explore at their own pace.

But if relaxation is your thing and you would rather lie back and enjoy the sunshine, Lanzarote’s beaches are the place to be. While the main resorts on the island host beautiful sandy coastlines, should definitely make time for a visit to the Papagayo beaches for something special.
