Icmeler Holidays

Situated on the southeast coast of Turkey where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea is the purpose built tourist hotspot of Icmeler (pronounced Itch-mel-air). Holidays to Icmeler have been a very popular holiday choice for British and European tourists for many years now and despite growing quickly into a smart classy resort, it still retains a charm about it with very much a village feel to the resort.

Icmeler sits in a magnificent setting with a crescent shaped beautiful bay of lovely sand and shingle, surrounded by stunning pine-clad mountains on three sides and the clear blue waters of Marmaris bay to the other side. This former fishing village has grown into a smart modern resort that offers something for everyone. Families and couples like to holiday in Icmeler as it is a lot more laid back than it’s big neighbour Marmaris.

The lovely traffic free seafront promenade hosts pavement cafes and bars as well as sea front hotels and is popular during the day. The beach is clean and made up of sand and shingle and there is a huge choice of water sports available. Moving into the town centre you will find a host of shops, stalls, bars and restaurants and many of the streets are traffic free and make it safe for all the family. The weekly market always drawers in the crowds and lets you pick up locally produced bargains.

Icmeler Holidays – Something for all

In recent years there has been a big expansion of Icmeler with new bars, restaurants and clubs springing up on the beachfront, in the canal area as well as further back into the resort, some of these bars can be quite lively and offer music and karaoke all night and into the small hours of the following morning. Nearby Marmaris has a much larger choice of late night spots and can be reached by local dolmus or taxi within a few minutes.

Many people like to explore the local area; the central mall offers a wide choice of shops, as does the local weekly market. But if you love shopping and want a much wider choice, a visit to Marmaris is a must, you can shop ‘til you drop! Local dolmus or taxis will take you into the Grand Bazaar which has a huge range of shops all of which share the same slogan “cheap as chips!” But the best way to get from Icmeler to Marmaris is via local water taxi; it cuts across the stunning Marmaris bay and takes around twenty five minutes and offers fantastic views of the whole bay.

As with most holidays to Icmeler, a boat trip is a must, daily trips leave the pontoons along the seafront and take you out into Marmaris bay and visit the local sites such as the fish farm, a cave and the resort of Turunc. Icmeler holidays are perfect for a beach based holiday in a beautiful setting with lots of activities – if you want them!
