The market town of Fethiye sits overlooking a beautiful bay backed by green mountains. The busy tree lined promenade has lots of busy bars and restaurants packed with Turkish character. The cobbled streets have lots of shops selling all types of things from designer goods, to leather and of course Turkish delight.
There are a number of good beaches to choose from during your holiday in Fethiye. The closest to the resort are easily accessible and are lapped by the beautiful clear waters of the Aegean Sea. Hop on a bus, or take a dolmus to any of the lovely nearby bays such as Aksazlar, Calis, Samanlik, Kuleli or Boncukluis and relax in the hot summer sunshine.

Well the thriving port of Fethiye is a regional capital so has lots going on, there are a number of other resorts within a few minutes’ drive away including Olu Deniz, home of the world famous Blue Lagoon. There are many historical sites close by including rock tombs. The popular Turkish boat trips leave daily from the harbour and although Fethiye does not have its own beach the nearby resort of Calis Beach is just a few minutes dolmus ride away and perfect for a lazy day in the sun.

Popular excursions from Fethiye include Dalyan with its famous mud baths and Turtle Beach as well as trips to Patara, Ephesus and Pamukale. The underwater city of Kayakoy and the gorge at Saklikent are also a good day out. The Lycian rock tombs which are carved into local cliffs and mountains are a popular excursion and there are many examples in this area of Turkey to explore, be prepared for a steep climb though; however there is a bar at the top, perfect for a cooling drink in the heat of the day. The Tlos ruins are close to Fethiye. The stunning views across the Xanthos Valley blend effortlessly with picturesque mountainside villages. In this ancient former Lycian settlement there are many tombs and sarcophagi from the 3rd century BC and remains from the fortress from the Ottoman era. Roman baths and an ancient theatre will also transport you back in time to empires long gone.
Fethiye has a great weekly market and people come from all over the area to visit it. This is the main market of the area and has many stalls that sell everything you can imagine from watches and t-shirts to spices and Turkish delight, be sure to have a haggle for a bargain though! .
There are many good restaurants serving everything from fresh seafood caught that day to fast food western style. Try some authentic Turkish delicacies or international favourites in one of the many family friendly establishments. Fethiye has some lively bars but the likes of Olu Deniz and Hisaronu are close by if you fancy something different on a night time.
