Trains and buses link Benalmadena with other towns and resorts on the coastline and run on a regular basis. Malaga is the regional capital and has some stunning old buildings, museums, shops and restaurants to enjoy and is reached by train in around half an hour. The theme park Tivoli world is always a popular day out as are the water parks at Torremolinos and Mijas. Car hire is very reasonable in the region and gives you the opportunity to visit the swanky marina down at Puerto Banus where the rich and famous hang out, shop and show off their sports cars. Further down the coast is Gibraltar with its ‘home from home’ feeling where you will see British style police and traffic lights as well as the world famous Gibraltar Rock complete with the resident apes.
